Happy Birthday Wishes For A Boss

in FONTAINE STREET THEODORE VERHAEGEN SOON TO WORK


We knew for several months: a comprehensive redevelopment of the St. Theodore Verhaegen was on the agenda. Brussels Mobility recently filed an application for planning permission which relates to the tram track renewal and redevelopment of the St. Theodore Verhaegen the Barrier of Saint-Gilles in the Rue de Merode.

It also focuses on the redevelopment of the crossroads with Montenegro, rue Gustave Defnet and Chaussée de Forest (both banks).

This application is therefore subject to a public inquiry. You can read the file of 27/01/11 to 25/02/11 every weekday from 8 am to 12 pm at the Planning Department (first floor of City Hall - Telephone: 02/536.02.16 ).

WHAT IS IT?

The case was assigned to the office of ARCADIS study of Deurne.

The request is for renewal of tram tracks and redevelopment of the street.
Redevelopment crossroads with Montenegro Gastave Defnet Street and Forest Floor. It details several strengths:

Traffic Automotive : Traffic is allowed in 2 directions between the Rue de Merode and street Sterckx. In the uplink, a limitation of the tonnage of vehicles fixed at 3.5 tonne. Between the street and the barrier Sterckx, traffic allowed in the downward direction. The amount borrowed street traffic Sterckx and the Rue de la Pole, whose meaning will not be amended to discourage through traffic. The direction of the Rue de la Perche is unchanged from the street Sterckx and Park Avenue to avoid creating an alternative route. Berlin cushions will be placed in the street and street Sterckx perch up to the communal pool.

The movement of trams : Traffic will be in the 2-way across the street Théodore Verhaegen. They circulate in mixing with other traffic between the Rue de Merode and street Sterckx. Between the street and the Barrier Sterckx, the tram runs in the Barrier own site with an enhancement of 8cm from the road.

Roadways, parking areas and parking : Aside from the site clean, the roads will be resurfaced in asphalt as municipal sewers have been renewed. Parking (enlarged 2.40 m wide) is maintained along the street in the uplink. The parking will be paved and the width was adapted for all of the street allowing the heavy vehicle / truck to park without blocking the tram.

Sidewalks: Sidewalks are completely redone in gray concrete blocks 20 x 20cm. Their width is 2.40 m side pair and 2.55 m odd side of the street. In the downlink, the stakes (height 80cm) anti-parking will be laid against illegal parking and protects pedestrians. Redevelopment of the streets of Montenegro, Causeway Street and Forest Gustave Defnet proposed to reduce the width of roads and encourage pedestrian traffic.

Circulations pedestrian and Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM) : Advanced sidewalk width of the strip to prevent parking vehicles from parking on the pedestrian crossing. The sidewalk will be lowered to 2 cm to facilitate passage of small front wheels of wheelchairs.

In terms of tram: The tram stops are set standards for new trams STIB. The height of piers is increased up to lower floors of the new trams. Is also planned to install lines podo-tactile the pier marking the position of the second door of the tram for PRM. The width of 45m cases is compatible with all trams.

To explain the project to Saint-Gilles, the town hosts an information session next Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 18:00 at City Hall. Vivaqua will also be present at the meeting for an explanation.

This work will inevitably provoke nuisance for businesses, commuters and residents. A necessary evil that obviously deserves your full attention.
